The Division’s 1.8 update is going live today

Ubisoft has announced that The Division’s previously detailed 1.8 game update is going live later today, and the studio is celebrating with a 24-hour livestream and a free weekend event.

First up, you can read the full patch notes for the 1.8 update here. The update brings some major changes and additions to The Division, including (but definitely not limited to) a new PvE horde mode experience called Resistance, a new PvP team deathmatch mode called Skirmish, a sizeable expansion to the open-world map, major revisions for the Dark Zone’s Rogue mechanic and the Underground DLC mode, an optimization station which allows players to upgrade their existing gear and fine-tune their builds, and much more.

To celebrate the update’s launch, Ubisoft is currently hosting a 24-hour livestream over on The Division’s Twitch channel, and those who link their Uplay and Twitch accounts (details on how to do that can be found here) and then watch the livestream for at least 20 minutes will unlock a trio of exclusive in-game weapon skins. Lastly, The Division will be entirely free-to-play from 1 p.m. EST on December 7 to 4 p.m. EST on December 10, and while the free-to-play period is active the game will be discounted by a whopping 70 percent.

All in all, whether you’ve never checked out The Division before or you’re an existing player who hasn’t revisited the game in a while, now sounds like the perfect time to do so.
