The infamous Steam Summer Sale is happening right now. But, there’s just so much to look at. Sure, you could always go grab some cheap big-name titles. But, we didn’t want some truly great indies to fall through the cracks.
We scoured through the list of games and found five indie titles that are currently on sale that we’re fans of. Some are newer, but some aren’t.
We also have our picks for five AAA titles happening during this Steam Summer Sale, which you should also check out!
Raft - A survival game about being out at sea
You’re stuck out on the ocean on a tiny raft in Raft. Luckily, you can build it up, upgrade everything, find ways to make food and water, power the boat, make weapons, and so much more.

There is also a cohesive story told through your adventure, from island to island that you come across, to explain why the world is the way it is now.
The best part about it is that you can play with your friends. Work together to build up your raft and keep sailing.
Raft is available on the Steam Summer Sail (I mean Sale) for only $13.39 right now. It normally goes for $19.99. It’s worth the money at full price. But, sales are always good.
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe - I can’t stop laughing at this game
Do you like to laugh when you play video games? Do you want to enjoy life? The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is an “expanded re-imagining” of the original 2013 hit.

You play as Stanley, an office worker wondering where everyone else went. You hear a narrator, talking to you, like you’re in some story. And now, you must explore.
The world is not what you thought it was. It changes at a whim. Follow the story and find all of the endings. There are… a lot of endings.
The end is never the end is never the end. Pick up The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe for half off of its ticket price on Steam for only $12.49. This is a very good deal, Stanley. You should take it.
DREDGE - Lovecraftian cozy game
If you’re a fan of cozy games, fishing minigames, and/or Lovecraftian horror, DREDGE is made for you. Yea, you read that right.
Image: Team17 / Black Salt Games
This is, for all intents and purposes, just such a nice cozy game. You go out, you fish, you bring in your haul, and make money to upgrade your boat. At its core, it’s a relaxing game, really.
But, as soon as you even start the game, something feels off. The story around you and your boat makes you feel uneasy. It isn’t until it starts to turn nightfall that you realize things are not as they seem.
Pretty soon, you’ll have to outrun eldritch horrors that only exist in your wildest nightmares, dredge up lost artifacts, and fish for mutated creatures. But, I swear this is a cozy game.
The sale isn’t super low. But, it knocks five bucks off the ticket price to make DREDGE only $19.99 right now. Support the indies. This game is worth the price tag. Plus, there was a huge content update just this week!
The Outlast Trials - Be scared with your friends
If you’re a fan of the Outlast games, this game has already been on your radar. It was recently released and it’s an Outlast game with multiplayer capabilities made by the Outlast developers.
Image: Red Barrels
You’re part of an experiment during the Cold War-era MKUltra tests. You’re sent out to do tasks in a facility dressed as various locations, like a police station.
You don’t get any weapons to complete your task, but you can use tools to distract enemies. You better be good at sneaking around.
You can play it single-player. But, the real fun is when you have friends along for the mission. When you’re being cornered by a psychopath, you will appreciate having someone to take the heat off of you.
I played and previewed it over on Hey Poor Player. I don’t recommend playing The Outlast Trials at work or around children. But, it’s not a terrible game.
You can be stealthy with The Outlast Trials over on the Steam Summer Sale. It’s on sale for $25.49, down from $29.99. It’s not the best sale in the world. But, the game is pretty new and really run to play with others.
Sons of the Forest - A well-made sequel about surviving a plane crash
Another newer indie on this list is Sons of the Forest. This sequel to the highly-rated The Forest puts your character on a remote island full of cannibals and danger.
Image: Newnight / Endnight Games
In Sons of the Forest, you were originally tasked with finding a missing billionaire on the island. But, your helicopter takes a plunge and you’re left to survive on the island yourself.
Luckily, you have a friend to help. Kelvin has gone entirely deaf from the crash but can be directed to help with tasks. Additionally, you can play this game in multiplayer and have a handful of friends help as well.
You can pick up Sons of the Forest for $23.99 on the Steam Summer Sale. It’s usually $29.99. A sale is a sale, though.
