July might be a bit of a drought month for new games and content. But, that isn’t stopping some fantastic new games from coming out during the summer. Honestly, even if there isn’t a lot coming this month, there’s still some great titles that we’re excited to play.
We found five awesome PlayStation 5 titles that you’re not going to want to miss, slated for July 2023. From futuristic dinosaur hunting to photographic puzzle-solving, we got you covered. Let’s dive right in.
Synapse
Use your mind to complete your objective. Synapse is a sci-fi adventure where you mix your shooting skills with telekinesis. And even better, it comes in virtual reality with PSVR 2.

Being a PSVR 2 exclusive means you’re actually in the shoes of your character during this first-person shooter. You’re not exactly a good guy here, but you’re not the villain either. Invade the minds of your enemies while you dual-wield guns to take down an enemy of the state.
Not only is this a VR title, but it’s also single player. This concise story offers hours of gameplay as you work your way through enemies to take down the big bad.
Synapse is coming exclusively to the Sony PlayStation 5 and requires a PSVR 2 in order to play. Find it on July 5th, right from the PlayStation Store.
Exoprimal
Can you imagine a world where dinosaurs just appear out of thin air? In Exoprimal, taking place in 2040, that’s exactly what is going on. They appear and cause tons of destruction because they’re dinosaurs.

Players don elaborate robotic suits known as Exosuits and take down the threat of dinosaurs wherever they appear. You might have a swarm of raptors or a giant T-rex to deal with. Team up with others to take down the menace in modes like Dino Survival. The story has the player dropped into 2040 and forced to play wargames. Dino Survival is the main mode that unveils the story as you play it.
This multiplayer game offers a ton of unlockable suits, a full season pass, and plenty of time traveling adventures to fight dinosaurs that bleed a black substance. More modes will come as well. For instance, Savage Gauntlet is another mode announced that is entirely PvE and includes completing challenges for the fastest time.
Also announced is a crossover event with Street Fighter 6 with robotic-looking versions of Ryu and Guile as Exosuits, fighting dinosaurs. You can Hadoken a T-rex. More crossovers have already been announced as planned, including more Street Fighter content.
Exoprimal is coming July 14th to the PlayStation 5. But, you’ll also find it on the PlayStation 4, as well as Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and on PC. Suit up and keep the world from being overrun.
Viewfinder
Have you ever taken a photo that looked like you could just jump right into it? In Viewfinder, you’re equipped with nothing but a Polaroid camera and your wits to solve intricate puzzles.

Taking from similar smart-people puzzle games like The Witness, this unique game has you utilize your photos to create bridges, solve problems, and forge new pathways.
Seriously, you take a photo and can place it in a way to change the entire landscape. Then, photocopy your pictures to make repeating steps or get more items to solve a puzzle. You’re only limited by your own creativity. Take your best snapshots and uncover the mysteries of the world you’re in.
Smile for the camera in Viewfinder, which is coming out on July 15th for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
Immortals of Aveum
Described by Geoff Keighley as “DOOM with magic”, Immortals of Aveum is a first-person magical shooter. Immortals of Aveum was developed by veterans that have worked on both Dead Space and Call of Duty, so you can expect a tight, visually stunning experience.

Players enter an entirely new fantasy world as a character named Jak, a newer member of an elite team of battlemages. Using three different forms of magic, you uncover how to bring balance to the world that is currently at war.
Immortals of Aveum has a Standard and Deluxe edition offering, which are both available when it comes out. The Deluxe edition offers a special sigil that allows you to use all three types of magic at the same time, as well as a ton of rings and upgrades for Jak.
You’ll be able to find Immortals of Aveum on July 20th on the PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition
Do you long for the days when DOOM and Quake were the kings of the first-person shooter genre? Are you a fan of modern boomer shooters like Ultrakill and Dusk?
Image: Apogee Software
Apogee Software (a name you don’t hear too often in years that begin with a “2” anymore) has teamed up with New Blood Interactive and Nightdive Studios to bring Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition to market.
The original Rise of the Triad came out in 1995 from Apogee Software and this version keeps all of its pixelated charm for the modern day. It was concocted as a sequel to Wolfenstein II originally, but became its own IP when ID software rejected it.
Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition comes with all expansions from the original, restored content, a whole new level made for this version, and tons of great options. You can play it in 4K and choose between the original’s soundtrack or the 2013’s OST. They took a lot of love and care for this title’s history.
Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is coming to the PlayStation 5 on July 31st. It’s coming to everything else as well, including the PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC at the same time. That’s ludicrous.
While you’re checking out our article here, you should also check the Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC releases for July 2023 as well. Games often make it to multiple systems.
While you wait, if you want to know what’s due out this month, you should check out our picks for new games coming out in June 2023. We break it all down by Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC for you there too.
