This year’s Dota 2 Invitational includes a battle royale mode

Given how popular the battle royale format has become as of late, it was only a matter of time before Valve decided to get in on the action, and that’s exactly what it will be doing with this year’s Dota 2 Invitational Battle Pass.

According to Valve’s full breakdown of the 2018 Battle Pass, those who purchase the pass will be able to partake in an exclusive new game mode called The Underhollow.

Judging from its official description, it sounds like The Underhollow will function as an underground battle royale game mode of sorts in which teams of players must work to secure a prized wheel of cheese of all things:

"Battle through a labyrinth filled with monsters, marvels, and many other three-player enemy squads as you search for Roshan's rarest cheese and work to be the last team standing. You'll need to navigate carefully to earn the XP and Gold needed to destroy your opponents. But don't take too long—Roshan's cheese frenzy is causing cave-ins as he moves towards the center of the Underhollow. Soon enough there will be nowhere left to run."

The Underhollow is just the tip of the massive iceberg in terms of features included with 2018 Dota 2 International Battle Pass. Players who buy the pass will also be able to participate in special unranked ‘Mutation Mode’ matches that come with unique modifiers, earn new cosmetic items like skins and sprays, participate in the ‘Cavern Crawl’ unlock track, and much more. As usual, more rewards are unlocked as a player reaches higher and higher Battle Pass level milestones, and buying in at level one costs a mere $9.99 (players can also pay more to instantly reach certain level ranks).
