A SNES Classic Edition could soon be released
Mere days after Nintendo officially discontinued the NES Classic Edition console in North America, reports have started to surface that the company plans to release a SNES Classic Edition in time for the holiday 2017 season.
The reports, which originated over at Eurogamer, claim that development on the new classic console has already begun and that it should be available for purchase by Christmas, 2017. If Nintendo is indeed working on a SNES Classic Edition, it would certainly explain the sudden discontinuation of the NES Classic Edition (Nintendo would want fans buying the newer and likely more expensive console after all).
Hopefully the SNES Classic Edition, if it is indeed real, won’t suffer from severe inventory shortages like the NES Classic Edition did when it first launched. Although, it is Nintendo we’re talking about, so don’t get your hopes up too high.
