Shenmue III Kickstarter meets $2 million goal in less than 12 hours
One of this year’s biggest surprises during the Sony E3 press conference was producer Yu Suzuki announcing every intention of developing Shenmue III for current-generation platfoms – provided that his recently launched KickStarter campaign is met with great success. Well, good news, it is.
After launching the campaign alongside the PlayStation press conference last night, Suzuki’s would-be sequel has, at the time of this writing, already raised all of its goal, crossing over his $2 million goal in a matter of hours. Yes, we’ll see the return of Ryo Hazaki and company for the third chapter in the series.
Considering the successes of previous games like Mighty No. 9 and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Damned, it was only a matter of time before Shenmue III would see a similar success, especially with an avid fan base.
So there you have it, Mr. Suzuki, let’s continue the adventure. Those interested in taking part can do so here.
