Report: An HD remaster of the original StarCraft could be coming this summer
About a year ago, rumors began to circulate that Blizzard was working on an HD remaster of its original sci-fi RTS StarCraft, though the company refused to confirm or deny the rumors and eventually the whole affair was mostly forgotten. However, a recent report from a Korean eSports site has now apparently revived the speculation and has also pointed to a potential release window of Summer, 2017 for the remaster.
According to PC Gamer, the report from Korean site Sports Seoul claims that the StarCraft HD remaster will encompass the full experience of the original game along with enhanced graphics and full Battle.net support. The report also claims that Blizzard initially revealed the HD remaster to a small group of key eSports influencers during last November’s BlizzCon 2016 and that a full public reveal could be made as early as next week since Blizzard apparently plans to release the remaster sometime during the May-June 2017 time period.
It goes without saying that all of the above should be taken with a grain of salt until Blizzard offers an official comment on the matter, but it sure would be exciting if fans of the original StarCraft could soon play the game in full HD glory.
