PlayStation announces Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for Oct. 9
Since the new consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, don't have backwards compatibility, Microsoft and Sony, along with some third party developers, are investing in remastering classic games for the new generation. The latest announcement comes from Sony and Naughty Dog and their critically acclaimed Uncharted series.
In a blog post on Sony's official blog, Naughty Dog's community strategist, Arne Meyer, announced that Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be coming to the PlayStation 4 on October 9. The collection will include remastered versions of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
"Since the launch of the PS4, we’ve seen plenty of requests across our Twitter, Facebook, and message boards all over the internet to provide remastered releases for the first three games in the Uncharted series, which sold an amazing 21+ million copies and garnered an average 92 Metacritic rating," Meyer said. "We couldn’t agree more. What better way to prepare for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End than to revisit – or play for the first time – the first three games that launched the fortune hunting icon that is Nathan Drake?"
The remastered versions of the game are being worked on by Bluepoint games and will be playable in 1080p and 60fps with improved lighting, textures, and models along with a Photo Mode and new trophies in all the games. Fans who pre-order the game will receive the Nathan Drake Pack which includes single player skins of popular Drake outfits, and weapons like Golden AK-47 and Golden 92FS. In addition to all of that, fans who buy this collection will also have exclusive access to Uncharted 4: A Thief's End multiplayer beta version when it becomes available.
