Nintendo already working on a new Legend of Zelda game
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is already being praised as one of the best games of 2017 (if not the outright best) but apparently the Zelda development team at Nintendo has already begun work on the next major entry in the franchise.
The revelation comes from an odd source: a note from Zelda team leader Eiji Aonuma which can be found in the recently released official artbook The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Works. Aonuma’s note doesn’t provide any specific details beyond the fact that a new in-development Zelda game exists, but he does reveal that core concepts for Breath of the Wild were still being nailed down in early 2013 even though development on the game began pretty much immediately after The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword launched in 2011.
In case that last sentence didn’t make it clear enough, Aonuma’s note seems to convey that we likely won’t be seeing this new in-development Zelda game for quite some time, but it’s at least nice to know Nintendo is already looking towards the future now that Breath of the Wild has officially brought the series into the current-gen era of gaming.
