New Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer focuses on the game’s story and villain

BioWare has uploaded a new trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda which focuses predominantly on the game’s story and also introduces the central villain who players will be going up against.

The trailer offers a brief synopsis of the events which kick off Andromeda’s narrative, showing how a colony of explorers from Earth has ventured to a new unknown planet in the hopes that it will serve as a new permanent home for the human race. Leading this colony are the Ryder twins, a brother and sister who have been given the title of ‘Pathfinder’ and charged with defending the colony as it ventures into this new undiscovered world. However, the Pathfinder’s crew quickly learns that there are powerful forces working against them, forces which are led by a mysterious alien being called The Archon.

In addition to a fly-by of major cinematic moments, the trailer also includes glimpses of several potential squad-mates which players will get to recruit as well as one female squad-mate who will serve as a romance option for the player should they choose to play as the male Ryder sibling (whichever sibling isn’t chosen as the playable character will still be part of the story as an NPC). The full trailer can be watched above.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to launch on March 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
