New Kingdom Hearts III trailer shows off “Classic Kingdom” LCD games
Kingdom Hearts fans have been begging for a new Kingdom Hearts III trailer, and Square has obliged. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly what fans wanted. We didn’t get to see any new lore or new worlds on display. We got to see LCD games. Yeah, like the Game & Watch. Yeah, like those Tiger Electronics games you had when you were a game. Those kinds of LCD games.
Welcome to “Classic Kingdom” Sora’s own personal LCD handheld device. With this he will be able to play a number of simple games based on classic Disney shorts. Square Enix did a fantastic job mimicking the old style of jerky LCD gameplay. They even come with a non-stop barrage of beeps and boops ready to drive you insane now just as they did when you were a kid.
In addition to being a mini-game diversion in Kingdom Hearts III, the Classic Kingdom will be available in Kingdom Hearts Union Cross, Square Enix’s own mobile RPG spin-off.
Speaking of Union Cross, 300 players will have their Union Cross character name featured in Kingdom Hearts III as part of a special event. All you have to do is login for six hundred days straight. Easy right?
Kingdom Hearts III is expected to release in 2018 for the PS4 and Xbox One though a specific release date has not yet been confirmed.
