Microsoft cancels Scalebound
After a handful of reports from the likes of Kotaku and Eurogamer, Microsoft has confirmed their highly anticipated Xbox One console exclusive and PC game, Scalebound, has been canceled.
A Kotaku report this morning cited several sources claiming the game was in trouble and would likely be canceled. The report was also confirmed by Eurogamer where sources said the developers at Platinum Games working on the game were forced to take a month off and when they returned they were behind the development schedule.
After the reports were published, Microsoft released the following statement:
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
Scalebound was announced at E3 2014 and was touted as one of Xbox One’s upcoming premier titles. Originally set to be released in 2016, the game was delayed until 2017 and was most recently showcased at Gamescom 2016.
