Marvel’s Avengers delayed until September
While Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics received a tepid response at E3 2019, there was still some fan interest in the game in the following months after more gameplay footage was released. The game had a May 15, 2020 release date so the develop team was trying to get things right as the date was fast approaching.
Now it seems the team needs more time. In a blog post on Crystal Dynamics’ website, Scot Amos & Ron Rosenberg co-heads of the studio, announced the game is being delayed until this fall.
“At Crystal Dynamics our ambition has always been to deliver the ultimate Avengers gaming experience,” they said. “In order to achieve that goal, we have made the difficult decision to move the release date of Marvel’s Avengers to September 4, 2020.
“As fans ourselves, it’s an honor and a privilege to work with these legendary characters and we know what these Super Heroes mean to us and True Believers around the world,” they continued. “When we set out to bring you our vision for Marvel’s Avengers, we committed to delivering an original story-driven campaign, engaging co-op, and compelling content for years to come. To that end, we will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards our fans expect and deserve.”
On behalf of the studio, Amos and Rosenberg apologized for the delay and ensured fans that the game will be worth the wait.
