The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game is a prequel to the books

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced last year with Daedalic Entertainment (Deponia, The Whispered World) developing but we didn’t much more info than that. Now in a recent feature in Edge Magazine, we’re getting more details on the upcoming game.

The game still isn’t due out until 2021, but the story will follows Gollum in the years before The Lord of the Rings trilogy of books and will feature Thranduil, father of the Elven archer Legolas, as a side character. The game will be a stealth action game where Gollum will be sneaking around Middle-earth, including Barad-Dûr.

In addition to that info, Daedalic also let readers know that Gollum will not look like the Andy Serkis-portrayed character from the films. Ringwraiths will also be featured in the game but will have a different look from what we’re used to in the films.
