How to get the Monster Toughbone in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter World's first major expansion, Iceborne, went live on consoles today, Sept. 6, and already, hunters are prowling the web for solutions to the same questions that have been plaguing players of the franchise since it first launched in 2004: Where is this random piece of loot I need to craft this new gear?

Crafting is perhaps just as big of a deal in the entire Monster Hunter franchise as, well, hunting. And by the same logic, then, finding the right drops from monsters is just as important to the crafting process as the actual act of crafting itself. New Gunlance? Gotta get that new bone. New chest armor? Need that new mineral, obviously. Iceborne is no exception, and it's time to scramble for all that new loot that was added to the game with the expansion.

One of the most popular drops that hunters are searching for, as it turns out, is the Monster Toughbone, which is a Master Rank loot drop from some of the new hunts. It isn't hard to figure out why it's popular, either, as most of the starting sets in Iceborne all require it, including the new rank of Bone armor, Uragaan, Anjanath, Pukei, and the list goes on, and on, and on. Fortunately for you, it's not a hard monster drop to get.

It drops from the Master Rank Great Jagras and Kulu-Ya-Ku. It's pretty rare, but these are some of the easiest monsters to fight in the new rank, similar to when you started hunting in High Rank and then Tempered monsters. So get grinding, and don't give up, no matter how many hundreds of times you smack into the Kulu's rock or miss a dodge roll on the Jagras flopping across the map in a barrel roll. After all, without grinding, what would Monster Hunter be?
