Gearbox’s next game will be a shooter-card game hybrid

Gearbox Software, the studio behind the beloved Borderlands franchise and the not-so-beloved MOBA-esque shooter title Battleborn, has teased its next upcoming game: a 1v1 shooter title with a collectible card element that the company is aptly codenaming Project 1v1.

According to this new teaser website that Gearbox recently put up, Project 1v1 will apparently “combine the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game.” More specifically, the game will allow players to duke it out via three different game modes: Ranked matches (pretty self explanatory), Challenge matches (basically unranked), and Arena matches (a tournament of sorts in which participants can queue up to take on the current Arena champion).

Gearbox will be hosting a technical test for Project 1v1 soon, and interested players can sign up to take part in the test via the studio’s Shift website.
