Fortnite is getting a 100-player PvP mode

Fortnite, Epic Games’ co-op-focused creation/shooter title, didn’t make the strongest first impression when it launched as a paid early access title back in July, but Epic is hoping to give the game a second wind of sorts with an upcoming new game mode that adds player vs. player combat into the mix.

According to a press release from Epic, Fortnite’s upcoming ‘Battle Royale’ mode will drop 100 players into a single giant map and have them duke it out until only one player is left standing (a clear riff on the concept made popular by the Steam shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds). The Battle Royale mode won’t officially arrive until September 26, but those who already own Fortnite can try it out right now courtesy of an ongoing public test. If you don’t already own Fortnite, you can purchase both the standard and deluxe Founder’s Packs at a 25 percent discount from now until September 18.
