Fallout, Doom, and Skyrim are coming to VR

At Bethesda’s Press event last night (which was awesome, read more about it here) two potential VR game changers were detailed.

Both had been previously revealed and were widely expected to be announced,  but we learned much more about both projects last night.

Doom VFR (I’ll let you guess what the F stands for) seems to be a stand alone experience set in the Doom world. It looks to have a mix of puzzle solving which is surprising, mixed in with plenty of hellish violence that we have grown to love. Movement appears to be of the teleportation variety, but we’ll know more when we try it out this week at E3.

Doom VFR has been confirmed for the HTC Vive and PSVR. There's no realease date yet, but it's projected to be some time in 2017.

Fallout 4: VR's first AAA game?

Fallout 4 is going to be a full version of the post apocalyptic RPG/FPS hybrid, and that’s a huge deal. There is a great deal of excellent VR content already available, but this is the first example of a full, AAA title that has been completely adapted for the Vive.

We know Fallout 4 is coming to the HTC Vive in October, but have no word yet on support for other VR headsets.

We’ll let you know our thoughts on both when we try them out at E3 2017 this week.

UPDATE: Skyrim VR was also announced as part of the PlayStation conference late Monday evening. All we know now is that it looks to be the full Skyrim experience in virtual reality and that the game is coming to PSVR.

Bethesda is taking this whole VR thing pretty seriously, huh?
