Dogmeat from Fallout 4 wins best game dog at the World Dog Awards
Dogmeat in Fallout 4 is easily one of the most effective adaptations of a fluffy doggy companion in recent gaming memory. Something about the perky ears, the way he tilts his head, and occasionally the way he viciously tears out a raider's throat all while keeping his eyes and nose peeled for valuable hidden gear makes him one of the few companions that even die hard Lone Wanderers have trouble leaving at home.
So it's refreshing to see Dogmeat and his real life counterpart River show up at the 2016 World Dog Awards to be recognized as the Top Videogame Dog. It's a title well earned by the one and only dog to tank Deathclaws, Raiders, and the occasional Mini Nuke and still come out with his tail wagging and his cute little tongue a lolling.

The World Dog Awards, hosted by Iams and CW, are meant to showcase, “some of the most laudable pups on the planet," including entries from the "world of entertainment or on social media to everyday dogs who have had an indelible impact on the lives of their human companions”
Good show Dogmeat for making the cut, as one of the few companions in video game history to prove useful more often than annoying we salute your success and look forward to seeing you in the wasteland for years to come.
