Chris Columbus to write, direct Five Nights at Freddy’s movie
A Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has been in development for quite a while and it looks like we’re starting to finally see some progress. According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Chris Columbus will write and direct the Five Nights at Freddy’s film for Blumhouse Productions.
For those unfamiliar, Columbus directed Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and others. He’s also known as the scribe for ‘80s classic films like The Goonies and Gremlins.
Blumhouse Production is the company behind films like Get Out, Split, The Purge franchise, the Insidious franchise, and the Paranormal Activity franchise.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a horror game set at a Chuck E. Cheese-like pizza restaurant where the animatronic characters come to life and go on a killing sprees. In the game you play as a security guard who is locked inside the restaurant and must survive the night.
There’s no word on when production for the film will begin or a targeted released window.
