Borderlands 3: Every active SHiFT Code so far

Maybe you stumbled upon this page looking for treasure, or maybe you are new to the Borderlands franchise and have absolutely no idea what SHiFT codes are. Either way, we got ya covered.

What are SHiFT codes?

SHiFT codes are alphanumeric strings that you can find in the real world that give you prizes inside the world of Borderlands 3. Many are only active for short periods of time, given out via social media platforms by the Borderlands 3 staff as well as prominent influences. However some are eternal, or at least pseudo eternal and can be redeemed at any point. Those are the real gold.

Where do you redeem them?

In the Borderlands 3 social menu you will find a place to redeem you SHiFT codes. You can’t copy past them, so get used to typing in long strings of characters. Once you redeem them, you aren’t done yet. You’ll receive a mail with your prize in it. NOTE, you’ll want to open and redeem this mail with the exact character you want to redeem the prize for. You can do it for any character on your account, but it can only be redeemed once.

You can also redeem codes on Gearbox’s official SHiFT website, provided that you are signed in with the same profile you play the game with. You’ll still have to open up your mail in game though.

What do you get from them?

Primarily golden keys, however some SHiFT codes give you exclusive guns, skins, or other items.

What does a golden key do?

Golden keys allow you to open the golden chest aboard Sanctuary 3. There’s no tutorial for it, so here’s a rundown of what it does.

Opening the golden chest will spawn you two to four guns or shields of epic or greater rarity specifically at your level requirement. It will also spawn four grenade mods, class mods, or artifacts as well, also of epic rarity or above. The guns/shields will always be of the same type. So if you spawn one sniper rifle, all the guns you spawn will be sniper rifles. The mods and artifacts you spawn can be a mixed bundle, however.

Note that legendaries spawned from the golden chest are actually drawn from a limited pool. You cannot get certain boss legendaries from the chest. In fact, you can’t get most of the legendaries in the game from the chest. That doesn’t diminish the power of the legendaries you do get, but it’s not worth blowing all your golden keys looking for legendary loot that only drops from a specific boss or quest.

Alright, you don’t have to be pushy about it. Here are the codes that are still active at time of writing.

  • 9XCBT-WBXFR-5TRWJ-JJJ33-TX53Z (3 Golden Keys)
  • ZFKJ3-TT3BB-JTBJT-T3JJT-JWX9H (3 Golden Keys)
  • ZRWBJ-ST6XR-CBFKT-JT3J3-FRXJ5 (1 Golden Key)
  • Z65B3-JCXX6-5JXW3-3B33J-9SWT6 (1 Golden Key)
  • ZFKJ3-TT6FF-KTFKT-T3JJT-JWX36 (1 Golden Key)

Many of these codes come from physical products, like the Borderlands 3 Diamond Loot Chest Collector’s Edition. Others are simply giveaways that never expire.

It’s also worth noting that these codes do not have to be redeemed in Borderlands 3. You can redeem them in past Borderlands entries as well. It doesn’t seem to work in the other direction though. Old SHiFT codes won’t be redeemable in Borderlands 3.

Many other SHiFT codes will be released over the course of Borderlands 3’s lifetime. For even more SHiFT codes, check out the official Borderlands 3 twitter account.
